This institute was established in the year of 1960 and since then it has emerged as one of the best acting schools in India. Earlier, the television institute was located at Delhi and film institute was located at Pune. In seventies this television wing has been brought to Pune and since then both wings are located under one roof. Some of the famous alumni of this institute are Jaya Bachchan, John Abraham, Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
