Karnataka State Eligibility Test (KSET) is conducted by University of Mysore which is authorized by Karnataka State Eligibility Test Center. If the candidate is able to pass this examination he is posted as assistant professor in colleges under Karnataka Government. Previous year this examination was held in 11 test centers and 39 subjects in Karnataka. According to KSET website the candidates who are able to cross the threshold of cutoff marks of KSET are treated on the basis of rules and regulations made for lecturers and assistant professors of Universities and colleges under Karnataka Government. The candidates who have already qualified the examination are not eligible to take the exam in the same subject again. The eligibility requirements for the examinations of Karnataka government are provided below:

  1. The candidates belonging to General/Unreserved category must have got at least fifty five percent marks whereas the scheduled tribes(ST), scheduled caste(ST) and Persons with Disability (PwD) need to score minimum fifty percent in Masters or any similar qualification to appear for this examination .
  2. Prospective applicants must have completed masters or should be appearing for the final year of masters. They must have got their masters result or those whose result is pending can also apply or those whose mark sheet is delaying for some reason are also eligible to apply for the KSET examination.
  3. The candidates who have already completed a PhD degree and got their masters degree on or before 19th September 1991 are eligible to sit for the examination and their threshold for eligibility is also five percent less than other candidates.
  4. If the candidate is unable to find his subject of post-graduation in the list of subjects for KSET then he can take CBSE UGC NET examination which is taken twice a year.

The requirements of eligibility of candidates for particular subjects are given below:

  1. If the candidate wants to take KSET examination in Economics then he must have a master’s degree in Economics/ Co-operation.
  2. If the candidate wants to take KSET examination in Management then he must have completed post graduation in Management in other related subjects.
  3. The people who have completed post-graduation degree in Folklore, Kannada, Janapada, Kannada Janapada, Janapada Sahitya, and other associated subjects can take examination in Folklore.
  4. If candidates want to take examination in Mathematical Sciences then he must have a postgraduate degree in Pure Mathematics, Statistics and Applied Mathematics.
  5. For Chemical Science he must have post graduation degree in Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, Bio-organic chemistry, Polymer science, Marine Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, and Applied Chemistry and so on.
  6. For Physical Science he must be having a postgraduate degree in classical dynamics, thermodynamics, atomic and molecular physics, quantum physics, astronomy, quantum physics, astrophysics, material science, experimental design, nuclear, space and particle physics and other related subjects.
  7. For life sciences the candidates must have a postgraduate degree in Marine biology, animal biology, applied genetics, botany, zoology, sericulture, fishery sciences, physiology, biology, biotechnology, biodiversity and taxonomy, genetics, microbiology and other related subjects.
  8. The candidates who want to appear for Earth Sciences must have post-graduate degree in Geography, Geology, Meteorology, Marine Geology, Petroleum Geology, Earth Science, Geo-informatics, Geo-physics and other related subjects.
  9. The candidates applying for Archaeology must have a postgraduate degree in archaeology, epigraphy, culture and archaeology, ancient history and archaeology and other related subjects.
  10. Those who want to apply for Women studies must be having post-graduate degree in rural development, women studies and other related subjects.

KSET is needed only for bachelor and master degree courses but KSET is not mandatory for short term courses such as web development, Java, PHP, CA, ACCA and data science course in Bangalore and any other part in Karnataka.
